You Know You're a Surgeon's Wife When...

Yesterday, in between loads of laundry and cooking I noticed Doc H's computer had gone in slideshow mode. He had downloaded some new photos and I found myself smiling, so I paused to watch.

I enjoyed the photos he took of my garden

I enjoyed the photos he took of our family vacations to the mountains

to one ocean

and then the another

and our summer family bonfires

I'll admit the slideshow sucked me in and I enjoyed the idyllic walk down memory lane. So much so, I forgot about the tasks at hand. Within myself, I reveled at our many blessings and all the lovely times we have been able to enjoy.

As the photos continued popping up on the screen. I thought...

Our life is wonderful...

Our life is lovely...

Our life is beautiful...

And then, just as always, my warm fuzzies came to a sceetching halt

Graphic image ahead. Do not proceed if you have a weak stomach!

I'm not joking! Don't be cursing me if you find yourself cleaning your own upchuck from your keyboard or are late to pick up the kids cause you lay faint on the floor. I take no responsibility. You've had fair warning.

My lovely life was interrupted as usual.
You know you're a surgeon's wife when your lovely slideshows
are interrupted with photos like this...

    1. I had some pictures FAR worse on our computer, but I feared HIPAA, chickened out, and posted something from a website which I considered watered down from my reality. Ha!

  5. Yup...for sure surgeon's wife. This is exactly what happens to me when I'm downloading photos from my husband's iphone onto my computer. (My phone has pics of him and our daughter and his phone has pics of ME and our daughter). I get all sappy and happy and then some disgusting leg/arm/stomach comes popping up on my macbook. I quickly try to erase it without screwing everything up, curse him and his dam career and do something special for myself (online shopping, protest the chores, get online, etc). then when I've hit the "Delete these photos" and he asks about those ugly things he is sincerely BUMMED OUT that he has lost the pic of the necrotic foot or open stomach whatever whatever. We are of a special breed us wives!

  10. Hahahaha I LOVE this!!!! So funny and true. I can totally see my classmates and me adding pics like that to our slideshows and I'm just imagining the reactions my family/friends would have upon seeing them. Found your blog from isandos, and it is definitely getting bookmarked! Can't wait to get in on the next Medical Monday!

  12. When I was at college in Dublin, one of the profs in the medical dept was the state's coroner. About once a year he would present "Harbison's Horror Show" which was sort of the reverse. I never got to one, but from friends who did, it would be slides of coronor stuff, interspersed with lovely photos of his vacation in Greece or where ever, to give folks a chance to settle their stomachs before continuing with the main show.
