It's my birthday.
Woo.
Hoo.
We are heading out of town to celebrate my birthday. We stopped for a late lunch, and now I find myself with a full belly, sitting alone.
I got a table alone. Ordered lunch alone, ate lunch alone, and now wait alone.
Meanwhile, Doc H's lunch is now stone cold.
Where could the man possibly be, you ask?
In the car, on the phone with another doctor. I won't bother you with the infuriating details, but I will say this... Some doctors are just better than others. Period.
I have a sinking feeling this whole weekend will be hijacked by blood and guts phone calls.
I'm still sitting... And waiting.
We probably should've stayed home.
Happy birthday to me. Yay.
Medicine sucks. But happy birthday. Hope you can find a way to enjoy it even with a delinquent husband.
ReplyDeleteNow that we successfully made it out of town, we're going to give it another try at dinner. ;)
DeleteYay! Enjoy! :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday!!! I know it must be so hard and frustrating to watch that stuff happen. I hope you still have a great day and enjoy it because it's special no matter what!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Will do!
DeleteHappy birthday from a new reader.
ReplyDeleteMy mother, the daughter of a physician (surgeon turned radiologist), warned me when I was going out with a med student that a physician's spouse had to assume that the physician would never be there. Ever. For anything. It made things much easier when he/she disappeared, and made for a very pleasant surprise when he/she was actually able to make it.
Some of us at the hospital where I work actually asked one of the docs, an Ob/Gyn, if his wife remembered what he looked like. His answer? "I'm not sure. I hope so."
WELCOME, NEW READER!!! A new reader always makes the day brighter!
DeleteYour mother's advice is a rule a live by. However, today's lunch was a reminder to never let my guard down! Rats.
Love the OB/GYN's response!
Happy birthday! You need to order yourself a mimosa while your waiting. Fingers crossed he gets back in that chair soon.
ReplyDeleteIt was only another ten minutes after I published the post. An hour total! Do you know how long an hour is especially when you're sitting there thinking, "it's my birthday and I'm eating lunch alone while my husband is talking on the phone to another grown doctor who is behaving like a jackass?" Ugh. Anyways, he inhaled his cold food while I went to the ladies room and we got back on the road.
DeleteTonight it's martinis.
Happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, and I hope you get to spend some time with the hubs!!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd be grateful that you married the smart one. :)
Belated Happy Birthday! I hope those martinis were fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAww, happy belated birthday! :D
ReplyDeleteNext time, order him dessert first. Then you'll at least have a treat to soothe your anger ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! And, that is lame. Period. I get it though. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteWow, an hour speaking to another doctor - that's a long time in doctor talk.
I hope the rest of your weekend was phone free.
Happy belated Birthday! We share a birthday- it was my 40th :P Hope you were able to finally celebrate your birthday without interruption! :)
